Welcome to Chestnut our Reception Class.

Where we have fun exploring and learning through play.

We hope you enjoyed the summer break and are ready for the autumn term.  Above you will find pages that provide specific information about our class.

Our classroom is part of the main school and we share a wonderful outdoor learning area with Saplings Class (Pre-school). At Kensworth we are very fortunate to have extensive grounds and we take full advantage of this by learning in the great outdoors as much as possible.

Our PE days are Mondays and Thursdays and children should come into school dressed in their PE kit on both those days.  Earrings must not be worn for PE, so should be taken out and left at home and long hair should be put up or tied back.  

Please check that all your child's belongings are named including their water bottle and lunch box.

Our two Theme units this term are:

'Long Ago' - This project teaches children about how they have grown and changed since they were babies and how life in the past was different from today.

'Starry Night' - This project explores the differences in the world at night compared to during the day. It teaches children about the importance of a good night’s sleep, and helps them to discover what is happening in the world while they are sleeping, including finding out about nocturnal animals.
