Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader motivates students to read more through engaging quizzes, goal setting, and personalised recommendations. As pupils increase their reading volume, they develop greater reading stamina, word recognition, and language comprehension skills.
Once a child has read a book within or closely around their reading level, they will take a multi-choice quiz on the text they have read. They can also access their word count (how many words they have read), how many points they have gained from what they have read and it then allows teachers to support children with developing their reading skills further through closely linked targets.
Whilst we encourage quizzes to be taken in school, sometimes children may need to complete them at home so that they can be undertaken within 48 hours from finishing their book. It is essential that the book has been completely read and that the quiz is taken without making reference to other sources of information (e.g. Google searches). It is far better for the quiz to be reflective of a child's comprehension than simply getting the questions all correct but not having understood the content.
