Below you will find an outline of what we are covering across the curriculum:

๐Ÿ“– English

Our English lessons are based around exciting, rich texts that inspire creativity and a love of reading.

This term, Oak class will be focusing on writing to entertain through an engaging narrative unit. The children will explore the popular picture books Starbird and Zeraffa Giraffa, using them as inspiration to develop ideas, structure, and creativity before writing their own imaginative stories. Following this, the class will move on to writing to inform, where they will learn how to write a clear and engaging recount, supported by their study of Real-Life Mysteries. We will then explore different types of poetry, with a particular focus on creating thoughtful and expressive haikus.

Alongside these units, children will take part in daily handwriting and spelling sessions to help strengthen accuracy, fluency, and confidence in their writing.
