Promoting reading for pleasure.

Our Reading Challenge is an exciting way to reward children for their participation of actively reading. Each pupil will take part in a digital reading 'test' every half term to continuously monitor their progression and ensure challenging themselves according to their current reading abilities. 

Children are provided with a target ZPD (zone of proximal development) which is accurately calculated based on their results. This allows children to independently select books within a range that is individually suited to them as readers. 

After finishing a book, children will be able to complete a reading 'quiz' which is based on the book they have read. If they answer all of the questions correctly they will be rewarded with one stamp on their punch card. When children have completed their punch cards (10 stamps) they will be rewarded with a prize or some extra playtime. 

Children are also working towards a goal of becoming a WORD MILLIONAIRE. This is calculated by completing book quizzes. When a child becomes a certified WORD MILLIONAIRE their achievement will be rewarded and celebrated in the school setting.
