📚 Our current class reader is Why the Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo.

Why the Whales Came is about a boy named Gracie and his friendship with an old, mysterious man called the Birdman, who lives alone on the Isles of Scilly. The story explores how fear, rumours, and prejudice can cause people to misunderstand others, while kindness and courage can bring truth to light. Set against the backdrop of the sea, the novel shows how the natural world—especially the whales—plays a powerful role in revealing compassion, forgiveness, and the consequences of our actions.
