Autumn 2021 Theme
Superheroes Intergalactic greetings, young heroes. It’s time to rescue the planet from evil villains. Who’s your favourite superhero? Spiderman? Wonder Woman? Maybe your heroes are ordinary people who’ve achieved great things. Or is it those people who save lives in our emergency services that you admire most? Superheroes have super senses. Use yours to identify mystery items by their smell, taste, sound and touch. What do true superheroes eat to keep their senses and special powers sharp? Can we stop the dastardly plans of Professor Slime? He’s dropping his villainous instructions around town. We must stop people following them, but can we make it in time? Is that phone box free? Please excuse me – I have to save the world.
The books that we will be reading are:
Class Dojo is the platform we use to share information regarding your child such as their learning journey throughout EYFS and KS1. We keep parents and carers updated regularly posting wow moments that the children share with us in class.
Class Dojo can be downloaded as a free app onto any iphone or android phone.
The class teacher will send you a code using the given email address or mobile phone number for you to connect to your child's account. Class story will be used for any full class information or home learning activities the class teacher may set.
You will only be able to see your own child's portfolio of work and dojo points.
Dojo points are given for positive behaviour choices and amazing work. A prize is awarded to the children each time they achieve 20 dojos.
Spring theme: School days
In the School Days project, your child will have the opportunity to take part in a traditional Victorian class and will learn about the differences between schooling in the Victorian era and schooling today. They will learn about objects found in a Victorian classroom and how they were used. They will research Samuel Wilderspin, an important figure in the development of schooling for young children in the Victorian era, whose ideals are reflected in schooling today. They will learn to describe the passage of time through study of past, present and future tense vocabulary. They will also take part in several fieldwork opportunities where they will explore the physical and human features of the school grounds and village.

Forest School Fun
Here at Kensworth Pre-school we offer Forest school sessions every Friday morning for reception and Pre-School children. These sessions are led by our amazing, qualified forest school leader Mrs Whitmore. The children have the opportunity to make trails, climb and jump off trees, build dens, learn about nature, and work with their imaginations.
Year 1 and 2 will have Friday afternoon Forest school sessions in the Spring term.
