Holly Class (Year 1 & 2)
This half term our Value is FRIENDSHIP
Thessalonians 5.11
'Encourage one another and build eachother up.'
If your child shows the value at home let us know so this can be celebrated in school.

Here are a few things you might like to know about our year group:
PE
PE Lessons will be Mondays and Fridays. On PE days the children should come to school wearing their PE kit. Please see the uniform policy to ensure your child has the correct PE uniform.
Class Dojo
Class Dojo is the platform we use to share information regarding your child such as their learning journey throughout KS1. We keep parents and carers updated regularly posting wow moments that the children share with us in class.
Class Dojo can be downloaded as a free app onto any iphone or android phone.
The class teacher will send you a code using the given email address or mobile phone number for you to connect to your child's account. Class story will be used for any full class information or home learning activities the class teacher may set.
You will only be able to see your own child's portfolio of work and dojo points.
Dojo points are given for positive behaviour choices and amazing work. A prize is awarded to the children each time they achieve 25 dojos.
Reading
Children are encouraged to read at home daily as well as in the classroom. Year 1 and 2 children will be encouraged to take ownership of changing their book when needed.
Homework
Year 1 and 2 - Reading book, 1 pieces of maths and Reading or Writing homework will be posted on Class Dojo portfolios for children to complete and return online. This will be set on a Friday and is due in on the following Thursday.
Spring theme: Land Ahoy
Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a sailor’s life for me. Get your sea legs on, it’s time to sail the salty seas. Navigate, investigate and explore the world, just like Captain Cook. Make a boat, sink a ship, fly a pirate flag. Speak like a pirate, write like a poet, then weigh and measure a pirate’s booty. How do rescues happen at sea? Find out about brave volunteers and young Miss Darling, rowing her boat across stormy seas. Sing a sea shanty whilst cleaning the poop deck, then search the school grounds for Captain Longbeard’s hidden treasure. There’s land ahead. Let’s get this ship to port.

Forest School Fun
At Kensworth, we offer Forest School sessions for all children. These sessions are led by our amazing, qualified forest school leader Mrs Whitmore. The children have the opportunity to make trails, climb and jump off trees, build dens, learn about nature, and work with their imaginations.
Year 1 and 2 will have Friday afternoon Forest School again in the Summer term starting on Friday 10th June 2022.
