Things to remember
Please listen to your child read at least three times a week and log it in their reading journal.
PE is Monday and Tuesday
Children to come into school in their PE kits on these days.
Children will bring home a half termly homework grid, with a range of activities covering a variety of topics from the curriculum they will be learning about e.g. art, science, history as well as some Maths and English.
There will be an expectation of how many activities your child should complete by the end of the half term and the children can then bring their work in, share a photograph on Dojo or talk about it with the class.
There will be a weekly expectation that your child has read and been listened to and for this to be logged in their reading record.
'Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.'
If your child shows the value at home, let us know so this can be celebrated in school.
Here are a few things you might like to know about our year group:
Class Dojo is the platform we use to share information regarding your child such as their learning journey throughout KS1. We keep parents and carers updated regularly posting wow moments that the children share with us in class.
Class Dojo can be downloaded as a free app onto any iphone or android phone.
The class teacher will send you a code using the given email address or mobile phone number for you to connect to your child's account. Class story will be used for any full class information or home learning activities the class teacher may set.
You will only be able to see your own child's portfolio of work and dojo points.
Dojo points are given for positive behaviour choices and amazing work. The whole class work towards an agreed amount and if that is achieved they choose a treat/reward.
Children are encouraged to read at home daily as well as in the classroom. Phonetically decodable reading books and sharing books will be changed every Friday or when they have read a book twice. Library books will be changed every Tuesday.
Forest School Fun
At Kensworth, we offer Forest School sessions for all children. These sessions are led by our amazing, qualified forest school leader Mrs Whitmore. The children have the opportunity to make trails, climb and jump off trees, build dens, learn about nature, and work with their imaginations.
